Merlot is constantly maligned in Australia but we think it gets an unfair wrap and there are many winemakers proving the doomsayers wrong. This example from the cool King Valley is wonderfully varietal with notes of plum and spice and savoury undertones of leather, earth and chocolate. As befitting the grape you can expect a soft and round palate with silky tannins and lovely structure. It finishes surprisingly long making it an ideal partner with pasta with meatballs.
