Pepper Tree '14 Shores' Reserve Merlot 2010 (Wrattonbully, SA)
14.5%, Screwcap, $42
Source: Sample

Eucalypt, mint, tannins, acidity and alcohol.

In other words, this is another Australian Merlot that doesn't quite nail the fruit ripeness and tannin balance. Still, it's impressively defined on nose and palate, with the no shortage of power through the dry, fresh finish. I'm perhaps being a bit harsh, as this does have some fruit in there, yet I didn't see much love here. Will be long-lived though.

Drink: 2013-2023+
Score: 16/20, 87/100
Would I buy it? No.
